Darkness 2 is a first person shooter and follow up to the 2007 game “The Darkness”. Published by 2K Games for PS3 and Xbox 360. The game had a cel-shaded, graphic novel aesthetic that deviated from the original art style.
I was Lead VFX Artist on the game. Working alongside the Art Director, I was responsible for bringing high level effects to the game. My first job was to come up with a unique visual look for the effects that complimented the game's art style. After that, my role was to create effects for the game as well as review and maintain the visual look of all effects created.
Effects were authored in Photoshop, After Effects, Maya and in-house tools.
I was also tasked with creating the numerous videos that played when the player died. These were created in After Effects and Premiere.
